Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, is a procedure to remove excess skin, fat, and sagging tissue from the upper and/or lower eyelids. Over time, the skin around the eyes can become loose, leading to droopy eyelids, puffiness, and under-eye bags, which can make you appear tired or older than you feel. In some cases, excess skin can even obstruct vision.
Blepharoplasty can:
- Lift sagging eyelids for a more youthful, alert appearance
- Help reduce puffiness and under-eye bags
- Improve vision if sagging skin interferes with eyesight
What to Expect: Surgery & Recovery
Eyelid surgery is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia. A small incision is made along the upper eyelid's natural crease or just below the lash line of the lower eyelid, allowing for discreet scarring and a natural-looking outcome.
- Procedure time: Typically 1 to 2 hours
- Recovery: Mild swelling and bruising that last up to 2 weeks
- Results: Final results are visible after a few months

Treating Fine Lines & Wrinkles
What Are Neuromodulators?
Neuromodulators are injectable treatments that temporarily relax specific facial muscles to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles caused by repetitive facial expressions. They work by blocking nerve signals to targeted muscles, preventing them from contracting, which helps soften existing wrinkles and prevent new ones from forming.
Common neuromodulators include BOTOX® and Xeomin®, both of which are FDA-approved for cosmetic and medical uses. These treatments are popular for helping to reduce the appearance of:
- Frown Lines (11’s): Softens vertical lines between the eyebrows.
- Crow’s Feet: Wrinkles around the outer corners of the eyes.
- Bunny Lines: Fine lines on the nose.
BOTOX® vs. Xeomin®
We primarily use both products at Spectrum Eye Physicians. Xeomin® offers a more purified formulation with fewer protein contaminants. While BOTOX® and Xeomin® work similarly, some patients who no longer respond to BOTOX® continue to see results with Xeomin®. BOTOX® is still available for patients who have had great success with it.
Treatment takes only a few minutes, with no downtime, and results appear within 3 to 7 days, lasting about 3 to 4 months.
Restoring Volume & Contour
What Are Dermal Fillers?
As we age, we lose collagen, fat, and elasticity in the skin, leading to hollowed areas, fine lines, and sagging features. Dermal fillers are injectable treatments designed to help restore lost volume, smooth wrinkles, and enhance facial contours.
- Fill under-eye hollows for a refreshed look
- Plump lips and cheeks for youthful fullness
- Smooth out fine lines and deep creases
JUVÉDERM®, Restylane® & Belotero Balance (+)
We use JUVÉDERM®, Restylane®, and Belotero Balance (+), as they provide natural results without permanent fillers like silicone.
- JUVÉDERM®: Great for cheeks, lips, and deep creases.
- Restylane®: Provides a smoother, softer finish for under-eye hollows and facial contours.
- Belotero Balance (+): Best for fine lines and delicate areas.
How Fillers Work
- Almost instant results with little to no downtime.
- Mild swelling or bruising is possible but subsides within a few days.
- Fillers typically last between 6 to 18 months, depending on the product and treatment area.
Did you Know?
Xeomin® does not contain complex proteins, which may reduce the risk of the body developing resistance over time.
Then and Now
Botox® was originally approved by the FDA in 1989 to treat eye muscle disorders and only later became known for its cosmetic benefits.
