With a career spanning decades, Dr. Robert S. Mastman specializes in general ophthalmology, vision exams, and diabetic eye care, serving patients with personalized and compassionate care.
Education
Dr. Mastman was born in Buffalo, New York, where he completed high school and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara in Mexico.
Following medical school, he completed a surgical internship at Long Island Jewish-Hillside Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York, and a three-year ophthalmology residency in Buffalo, where he served as Chief Resident at both the Buffalo Children’s Hospital and the Buffalo Veteran’s Hospital.

Since entering practice in California in 1982, Dr. Mastman has earned Board Certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology and performed thousands of eye surgeries, including laser procedures and ophthalmic plastic surgery.
He is an active member of several prestigious organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the California Medical Association, and the Santa Clara County Medical Society.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Mastman enjoys photography, woodworking, and tennis, and has been actively involved in raising his four children. A visionary in his field, he co-founded the West Valley Surgery Center.
