Dr. Tarek El-Sawy is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in oculoplastic surgery, including cosmetic and medical procedures for the eyelids, eye socket, and tear duct system.
Education
Dr. El-Sawy earned his undergraduate degrees in Physics and Philosophy from the College of William & Mary in Virginia. He completed his MD and PhD at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio, graduating with honors in the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) medical honor society. His thesis research was published in leading immunology journals.
During his ophthalmology residency at Columbia University in New York, Dr. El-Sawy was elected Chief Resident and awarded the Heed Fellowship. He then pursued sub-specialty training in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at the renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center and Texas Oculoplastic Consultants in Texas.

Dr. El-Sawy is a mentor and educator, having served as full-time faculty in the Department of Ophthalmology at Stanford University since 2012. He finds great joy in building lasting relationships with his patients—both adults and children—while helping them achieve improved vision and confidence.
Outside of his medical practice, Dr. El-Sawy enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two sons.
